The latest Tray Hay Feeders have no sharp edges. The bolt heads are round, there are no protruding nuts or thread and the fasteners are rivets. This feature makes it safe for all stock, including horses.

Bale Jail Advantages

Less waste:

  • The floors have walls all around them to prevent roughage that falls in the trays being pushed onto the ground and wasted
  • Bale positioned in the feeder so that the rain naturally drains from it
  • Bale is raised off the ground

Easy to use:

  • Easy to move with hay in the feeder
  • Load with a Front End Loader

Universal:

  • Meal can be put into tray to feed at the same time as roughage
  • Used for calves, weaned calves, cows, bulls, horses and deer

Stronger:

  • Bracing to ensure it stands up to any rough treatment

New Feature - Adjustable Cradle

The latest Tray Hay Feeders have an added feature of an adjustable height cradle. There are 8 heights the cradles to be fastened at. This gives farmers the opportunity to use the one piece of equipment to feed young stock at the lower setting and mature stock at the higher settings.

Waste Saving

  • The feed that the cattle, horses, etc. pull out from the suspended area that doesn’t get eaten falls in the trays. This prevents the hay falling and being trampled into the ground.

  • The floors have walls all around them to prevent fodder that falls in the trays being pushed onto the ground and wasted.
  • The floors have 6 holes in them to allow moisture to drain from it.
  • The feed is suspended off the ground which means that moisture doesn’t affect the bottom of the bales.
  • Round bales are positioned so that they naturally drain water off the top. This is significant because the top of the bale is eaten last which means that the draining feature lasts until the bale is completely eaten.

  • When the hay is under its own weight suspended against the bars, it makes accessing the hay harder for the stock. The effect of this is that stock are forced to take less in per mouthful which means they are less likely to drop what they have worked hard to access.

Skidding

The Tray Hay Feeder can be skidded while it still has feed in it.
